The push-up with inside reach and hand swipe is a variant on the push-up that develops rotational capacity through the body. It is a precursor for more advanced animalistic style movements.
Cues:
- Reach the leg underneath and across the body as you lower into your push-up
- Support your weight on the outside of your reaching foot and the same side hand (they will now be on opposite sides of your body)
- Swipe in “wax on” motion smoothly with the opposite hand and return to the original push-up position to finish
Mistakes:
- Swiping too quickly
- Swiping with the wrong arm
- Failing to fully extend the swiping arm
- Resting the hip on the ground at the bottom
