Weightlifting Footwork – Pulling to Receiving Position

More cleans and snatches are lost because of poor footwork than for any other reason. Learning to accurately move the feet from your pulling stance to your receiving stance will make you a better weightlifter.

Cues:

  • Start in your pulling position for the snatch or clean. Ideally these are the same, but because of limb length they will sometimes be unique for a lifter.
  • Elevated to the balls of your feet and settle into a balanced position.
  • Attack the ground with flat feet (heels) by moving into your receiving position aggressively. An audible crack should be heard as your feet connect with the platform.
  • There is no jump to initiate this movement

Mistakes:

  • Inconsistent feet placement
  • Landing on the balls of the feet
  • Jumping to initiate the movement
